Time Difference Paris ↔ New York

Paris is usually 6 hours ahead of New York (Paris runs on Central European Time, New York on Eastern Time). That gap briefly narrows to 5 hours for a week or two each spring and fall, when Europe and the US switch to daylight saving on different dates.

With standard office hours (9am-6pm), the common window falls in the late Paris afternoon — roughly 3pm-6pm in Paris for 9am-noon in New York. It's the most comfortable slot, since neither team has to start very early or stay very late.

Frequently asked questions

How is the common time slot calculated?

The tool converts the current time into each selected time zone, then classifies every hour of the day as sleep, meal, available, or off-hours. The common slot is the set of hours where every city is available at the same time.

Does the tool account for daylight saving time?

Yes. Calculations use IANA time zone identifiers (for example Europe/Paris or America/New_York), which automatically apply each country's own daylight saving rules.

Can I customize my sleep and work hours?

Yes. In the “Customize the hours” section, you can adjust sleep, morning availability, lunch break, and afternoon availability. These settings apply in local time, the same way for every city you add.

How many cities can I compare at once?

You can compare between 2 and 4 cities at a time.

Is my data saved or shared?

No. All calculations run directly in your browser — no city or setting is sent to a server. The contact form is the only exception, and only if you choose to use it.

Is the tool free?

Yes, the tool is completely free and requires no sign-up.

What happens if there's no common slot?

If the cities you added have no overlapping available hours under the current settings, the tool lets you know and suggests removing a city or widening your custom hours.
